Guess That Record is a podcast hosted by Canadian musician Jackson Reed. Each week Jackson will sit down with a special guest for an in-depth interview about their career and experiences. Then, the guest will have to guess which album Jackson pulled from his collection, leading to a discussion about the record. In the 20th episode of Guess That Record, Jackson interviews trumpet playing extraordinaire Barry Danielian! A long time member of the E Street Band with Bruce Springsteen, Barry and Jackson were able to record their conversation live in Calgary the day before The Boss rocked the Stampede City. Barry has been a member of the E Street Band since 2012, performing in stadiums all over the world and appearing on multiple Springsteen albums including "The Promise," "Western Stars," and "Only the Strong Survive." Barry has also collaborated with Billy Joel, Sting, Elton John, and many more. In the episode, Jackson and Barry speak about their mutual music connections, and what it's like to be on the road with the E Street Band.

On this episode of Guess That Record, Jackson speaks with Jem Finer! A founding member of The Pogues, Jem played banjo on all of the group's records. He also helped write many of their most well known songs including "Sunny Side of the Street,""Misty Morning, Albert Bridge," and the all-time Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York." In the episode, Jackson and Jem discuss how Shane MacGowan turned him on to Irish music, behind the scenes stories from The Pogues discography, and how Jem created a piece of music that lasts for 1000 years.

Guess That Record returns with Jake Shimabukuro as our guest! Hailing from Honolulu, Jake is one of the world's greatest ukulele players. A sought after talent, he's performed with the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, and Warren Haynes. His newest album, "Blues Experience," is a collaboration with the great Mick Fleetwood. In this episode, Jackson and Jake talk about his approach to ukulele, and what it was like to work with the Fleetwood Mac drummer on this new album.

The newest episode of Guess That Record is the first to be recorded outside of Calgary, as Jackson travelled to Seattle to interview Chuck Burgi for the second time! Chuck is currently the drummer for Billy Joel, a role he's held since 2006. Chuck has also worked with artists like Hall & Oates, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, and many more. Jackson and Chuck met up the day before Billy Joel took to the stage at T-Mobile Park to go over Chuck's routine on the road, and how he approaches select songs from the Billy Joel songbook.

The biggest episode of Guess That Record to date has Jackson interviewing legendary guitarist Andy Summers from The Police! As the band's guitar player, Andy can be heard on all of their incredible songs including Every Breath You Take, Roxanne, and Message in a Bottle. Outside of The Police, Andy has released 13 solo albums, composed film soundtracks, and has collaborated with artists like Robert Fripp, Eric Burdon, and many more. Andy has won five Grammy Awards, and in 2003 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police. In this episode, Jackson and Andy break down select tracks from The Police's discography, and talk about Andy's current projects.

Jackson speaks with legendary British photographer Gered Mankowitz in this episode of Guess That Record! Having been active since the 1960s, Gered has been one of the most prolific music photographers of his generation, with many of his photos becoming iconic album covers. Gered has worked with The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Kate Bush, Phil Collins, and many more. Our first episode of 2024 has the one and only Dweezil Zappa joining Jackson on Guess That Record! The son of legendary musician Frank Zappa, Dweezil followed in his footsteps to become a master guitarist and composer in his own right, releasing six studio albums over the course of his career. He's also carried on the legacy of his father's music by fronting the successful group Zappa Plays Zappa. In this episode, Jackson and Dweezil talk about how he learned guitar under the tutelage of Eddie Van Halen, Frank Zappa's greatest hits, and how he managed to earn a part in an Arnold Schwarzenegger film.

Jenna is best known for her work with BTS, for which she co-wrote "Butter" and "Permission To Dance." Both songs reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to BTS, she's also worked with artists like Nelly Furtado, Roy Woods, Noah Cyrus, Drake, Benee, and Dixie D'Amelio. Bill was behind the kit for all of the group's biggest songs like The Power of Love, Heart and Soul, If This Is It, and Jacob's Ladder. In addition to his drumming, Bill also frequently sang backing vocals in many of the band's songs. In the episode, Jackson and Bill speak about how he got into music, the band's heyday in the 1980s, and what the future holds for the group.

Jackson Reed is the host of Guess That Record, and is a musician based in Calgary, Alberta. His most recent single "Dangerous Lover," gave him the opportunity to work with legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff, who is featured on the song. Jackson has performed live across Alberta, and in the United States.
Jackson, 24, is a recent graduate of the Journalism program at Mount Royal University, and views Guess That Record as a perfect way to combine his journalistic skills with his passion for music.
