Guess That Record is a podcast hosted by Canadian musician Jackson Reed. Each week Jackson will sit down with a special guest for an in-depth interview about their career and experiences. Then, the guest will have to guess which album Jackson pulled from his collection, leading to a discussion about the record. This episode of Guess That Record has Jackson speaking with Radio Personality, Professor, and Writer Donna Halper! Donna started in radio in the 1960s, working her way up from her campus radio station to become the Music Director at WMMS in Cleveland. During this stint in 1974, Donna famously became the first DJ to play the music of Rush on American radio, which helped launch their career. Following her time in radio, Donna has worked in academia, teaching at various universities and writing on subjects like media history. She holds a Ph.D. in communication from UMass Amherst, and in 2023 was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Hailing from Quebec, Steve has been performing for 30 years and found success as a one man band where he handles vocals, guitar, and drums all at once. Guess That Record is back for the first episode of 2025, and Jackson is joined by the great guitarist Dominic Miller! Best known for his work with Sting, Dominic has been performing with Sting since 1991. His playing can be heard on tracks such as "All This Time," "Fields of Gold," and "Shape of My Heart," a track in which Dominic received a co-writing credit. He's also worked with the Pretenders, Level 42, and Phil Collins where he played guitar on the number one hit "Another Day in Paradise." This interview was recorded in-person in Calgary on the morning after Dominic's performance in the city.

In this amazing episode of Guess That Record, Jackson interviews professional hockey player and fellow musician Devin Cooley! Playing as a goalie, Devin is signed with the Calgary Flames, and is currently playing for their AHL affiliate the Calgary Wranglers. He has played professionally for five years, and made his NHL debut last season with his hometown team the San Jose Sharks. Jackson and Devin caught up in-person after the Wranglers practice in Calgary to speak about Devin's hockey career, and his love for music.

In the 20th episode of Guess That Record, Jackson interviews trumpet playing extraordinaire Barry Danielian! A long time member of the E Street Band with Bruce Springsteen, Barry and Jackson were able to record their conversation live in Calgary the day before The Boss rocked the Stampede City. Barry has been a member of the E Street Band since 2012, performing in stadiums all over the world and appearing on multiple Springsteen albums including "The Promise," "Western Stars," and "Only the Strong Survive." Barry has also collaborated with Billy Joel, Sting, Elton John, and many more. In the episode, Jackson and Barry speak about their mutual music connections, and what it's like to be on the road with the E Street Band.

Guess That Record returns with Jake Shimabukuro as our guest! Hailing from Honolulu, Jake is one of the world's greatest ukulele players. A sought after talent, he's performed with the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, and Warren Haynes. His newest album, "Blues Experience," is a collaboration with the great Mick Fleetwood. In this episode, Jackson and Jake talk about his approach to ukulele, and what it was like to work with the Fleetwood Mac drummer on this new album.

The newest episode of Guess That Record is the first to be recorded outside of Calgary, as Jackson travelled to Seattle to interview Chuck Burgi for the second time! Chuck is currently the drummer for Billy Joel, a role he's held since 2006. Chuck has also worked with artists like Hall & Oates, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, and many more. Jackson and Chuck met up the day before Billy Joel took to the stage at T-Mobile Park to go over Chuck's routine on the road, and how he approaches select songs from the Billy Joel songbook.

Jackson Reed is the host of Guess That Record, and is a musician based in Calgary, Alberta. His most recent single "Dangerous Lover," gave him the opportunity to work with legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff, who is featured on the song. Jackson has performed live across Alberta, and in the United States.
Jackson, 24, is a recent graduate of the Journalism program at Mount Royal University, and views Guess That Record as a perfect way to combine his journalistic skills with his passion for music.
